Marino purchased and restored a historical library from 1893 in Southampton, New York, transforming the early nineteenth-century building into 8,000 square feet of art-exhibition space. In 2021, he opened Peter Marino Art Foundation, which exhibits more than two hundred artworks from his private collection, including paintings, sculpture, drawings, photography and ceramics from 3500 BCE to the present.

In 2012, Marino was named a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, and in 2017 an Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture. Further honors include 22 citations from the AIA for architectural design excellence.
